VIRTUAL EVENT (16th September 2020) AND POSTPONEMENT OF REAL NON-CONFERENCE

The full programme for the virtual non-conference is available here. This virtual event involves a selection of those who have had posters or demos accepted discussing their research.

Registration to participate will be free, but to receive joining details you must use our contact form at https://ict4d2020.org/contact-us with the single word REGISTRATION in the message box. This will be acknowledged and you will receive joining instructions about a week before the event starts.

Until there is greater clarity about the future of living in a COVID-19 world we have postponed the actual non-conference to a future date, but because we believe in the idea so much we still intend to find ways through which we can do exciting real things together. Please stay with us on this journey!

The ICT4D event that you always wanted to attend but have never been able to find before!

About Us

The ICT4D 2020 Non-Conference is being convened by a collective team mainly from the UNESCO Chair in ICT4D at Royal Holloway, University of London.

… and will be held at the beautiful Royal Holloway, University of London campus near Heathrow Airport

What to expect?

We ran the very successful ICTD2010 conference (see our final report).

10 years on, ICT4D2020 will be very different and even better!

This is YOUR gathering

The ICT4D 2020 Non-Conference is a place where you can choose what you want to discuss and in what format

Who is it for?

It is for governments, companies, civil society and academics – anyone wanting to make a difference in ICT4D. If you are reading this, it is for you! This is why you should attend!

Combining themes with activities

Participants will be able to combine different types of activities with the themes they want to discuss.

Go for a walk talking about cybersecurity and development!

Or discuss the freedom of the Internet whilst examining the Jurors on Runnymede meadow

Tracks

Eight main tracks are emerging from the offers of sessions that we have so far received, exploring the intersections between digital technologies and:

  • Accessibility
  • Cybsersecurity
  • Education
  • Gender
  • Government
  • Migration
  • Sustainability
  • Youth

Exhibition spaces and posters

Come prepared to give a demo of your latest piece of digital technology

Or if you are an academic bring a lively poster and be prepared to talk in a speakers’ corner!

Cultural activities

Continue the discussions into the evenings during great cultural events – perhaps we can even persuade Roxanne to come and sing again

And join us for a gala dinner with inspirational speakers

Sponsoring and partnership

In 2010 sponsors and partners funded 92 scholarships enabling people to attend. Please consider sponsoring someone inspiring to join us

Registration

Registration opened on 5 November 2019. Numbers are restricted, so you are advised to register early.

Code of Conduct

We strongly believe that all events and conferences (as well as non-conferences) should enable people to participate inclusively, respectfully and safely, and without fear of harassment. The ICT4D Non-Conference 2020 is therefore being held according to the UN system code of conduct. Any concerns during the event should be referred immediately to team@ict4d2020.org.
